Patch 4.3.2 is hitting on the PTR, and like fine wine, weapons, and women, it just gets better over time. It brings changes to classes. Today we're going to talk about these changes and what they're going to influence on our character. The short version is this: Hunter DPS will improve. Is it will be much better? Well, let's take a look.
PTR Patch 4.3.2 Notes
Aspect of the Hawk now grants roughly 35% more attack power.
Deterrence now also reduces damage taken by 30% while active.
Black Arrow now ticks every 2 seconds for 20 seconds, as opposed to every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The total damage dealt by the ability is unchanged.
Lock and Load no longer benefits Arcane Shot, nor is it consumed by Arcane Shot.
Blizzard decided not to provide hunters the full 20% AP from the raid buffs like Trueshot Aura how the melee courses get, instead giving us a scaled-down AP buff in the form of Aspect of the Hawk. Currently, AotH grants 2,000 ranged attack power, meaning the buff should boost that by about 700 attack power.
Of course, in practice, it's more than that. practically all hunters may have the One With character talent that boosts the AotH AP with a additional 30%, turning that 700 AP into 910 AP. On best of that, most raiding hunters will be enjoying the 10% AP raid buff, pushing that as much as 1,001 ranged attack power.
That's a quite sizable buff that will translate into properly over 1,000 theoretical DPS. Of course, experienced we acquired the full 20% AP raid buff the melee got, that would have been closer to some 2,000 AP boost, but still, it's difficult to complain too loudly about this one.
Of program we also should maintain in thoughts that BM hunters have the Animal Handler specialization that additional boosts their attack power by another 30%, meaning they're seeing closer to 1,301 ranged attack power when buffed from this change. This is a nicely clever buff -- it brings all hunter DPS increased and at the similar time, buffs the lagging spec more compared to others.
The bottom collection This buff will translate into a little something in the rough neighborhood of the 3% DPS boost for most players. While BM will boost by more, SV will still be the best DPS spec. Data from Dragon spirit DPS suggests that SV is around 3%-ish behind the median of the greatest classes, so while this buff keeps us from being low, it's not going to propel us high.
