Level: Boss Location: Blackrock Spire Type: Beast
The Beast is a boss found in Upper Blackrock Spire. It appears to be a Core Hound that has been captured by the forces of Nefarian for use in his breeding experiments. (Experiments on other core hounds could account for the creation of Chromaggus, a core hound-like dragonkin who is the second-to-last boss found in Blackwing Lair.)
At some point before he is encountered by a party, the Beast has swallowed Finkle Einhorn, a gnomish adventurer who has survived in the Beast's stomach for an unspecified period of time. Skinning the Beast will free Finkle.
Essentially, a tank will need to keep aggro on The Beast at all times as he hits extremely hard and can kill a cloth wearer in 2 or 3 hits, the rest of the raid will want to DPS him. As long as the Main Tank can keep aggro (don't count on this, he fears and random charges a lot. Better to say the main tanks) and you have sufficient healing, this fight should be a simple one. He may drop [Finkle's Skinner], which increases skinning by 10, so anyone in the group with a skinning skill of 300 should roll on this if they dont have it already, otherwise it can be greeded. It is vital someone can skin the beast as they can recieve the (Pristine Hide of the Beast) and also reveal Finkle Einhorn, who is the start of a quest chain.
TIP: The room where the Beast is in is seperated by a Barracade of Burning wood. If you clear the entire room before "The Beast's" room You will be able to use this room as a place of refuge if your Party dies. If you run past the Barracade you will lose aggro, and if everyone else is dead he should return to his corner and reset.
Also be aware that one of his attacks he often uses will send anyone in range flying upwards a good distance. Not only will the fall hurt, The Beast will more than likely turn from the main tank and attack another party member. Also watch out for his Fear, If you have a Dwarf healer you are in luck due to the fact The Beast's Fear doesn't affect them.
WARNING: Many groups often make careless mistakes when fighting the beast. If you do not clear the room before the Beast's room always remember that there are MOBS right around the corner from where you are fighting, and you might be feared or thrown out into the next room where all of the MOBS are waiting. So make sure you fight the beast in the middle of the room to make sure this doesn't happen.
